When he started courting his high school sweetheart Betty Ruth Scott he began attending church services… They married in 1953. After they were married he stopped going to church. There was a week of old fashioned tent revivals in their town- Betty went first, he later joined her. He received Jesus as his personal saviour and soon after was born again. He felt the call to the ministry. He heard a voice say ‘You are going to preach my Gospel’. To begin with he carried on working as a paper cutter and being a part time assistant pastor in a Baptist church 1955-7. He struggled to define himself - served as pastor in 4 different Christian denominations. Losing his 8 year old son, Frederick 111, in 1962, killed by a car, did not help. On 28th February 1970, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. and the evidence of speaking in tongue,he started considering starting his own ministry. He co- founded with his wife Betty, the Crenshaw Christian Center (CCC) in West Los Angeles, California. In November 1973 he moved to Inglewood, California. The membership continued to grow from the original 300. In 1977 they needed 2 services, by 1982 it needed 3 because the 1,400 seat sanctuary was always filled to capacity. In 1981 the church bought the Pepperdine University campus. Ground was broken for the ‘The Faith Dome’ on 28th September 1986. Construction completed in 1989. 21st January 1990 the $10 million Faith Dome was dedicated, it sat 10,146. Peter Frederick Jensen is a retired Australian Anglican archbishop, theologian and academic Principal of Moore Theological College (1985-2001). Archbishop of Sydney and Metropolitan of the Province of New South Wales in the Anglican Church of Australia (2001-13). Founding member of Global Anglican Future Conference(GAFCON) (2007) and former General Secretary. Peter was born in Sydney, Australia on 11th July 1943. He was educated at Bellevue Hill public School and The Scots College. He studied law for 2 years and worked as an article clerk before teaching in a primary school. In the 1960s he entered Moore Theological College. He was ordained in the Anglican Church of Australia as a deacon in 1969 an as a priest in 1970. He was a curate at St. Barnabas, Broadway (1969-76). Billy Joe Daugherty was founder and pastor of Victory Christian Center (now Victory Church) in Tulsa. He was also the founder of Victory Christian School, Victory Bible institute and Victory World Missions training Center (now Victory College. Originally from Magnolia, Ark. , he attended Oral Roberts University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Christian education. He was youth pastor in the 1970s at Sheridan Christian Center and became senior pastor at the church in 1976, on retirement of the previous incumbent. 1980, when the attendance had grown from 300 to 2,000, he sought to relocate the church. The church leaders decided not to move so he started what is now the Victory Christian Centre. They meet briefly in a former car leadership building. In 1984 they moved into the vacant Thorau Junior High School. When that building was sold they moved to its present site at 7700 S. Lewis Av. and held services in the Mabee Centre across the road. 2007 they moved into its state of the art, £32 million, 5,000 seat Tulsa Dream Centre built without borrowing money. Mark (b. 1945) is the former host and director of the weekly television show It Is Written (1991-2004) for which he travelled around the world as a televangelist. He was the first Seventh-day Adventist pastor to do a satellite evangelistic series. He best known for his association with Experience Hope a weekly broadcast on the Hope Channel. He has preached 17 NET series broadcasts throughout the world. He had written more than 70 books. He uses his preaching and evangelical gifts to teach others in seminars, field schools and evangelism institutes. On the 12th June 2020 members of the seventh -day Advent church were informed that he has a condition which could be termed pre-myeloma so he has been advised to cut down on activities, rest and limit his travel commitments. George Edward Vandeman (21 st. October 1916- 3rd November 2000) was a seventh-day adventist who founded the It is Written television ministry. He also founded the New Galley Centre in London. Aged 21 he attended Emmanuel Missionary College in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He found a job working at a weekly 15 minute radio broadcast in Elkkhart, Indiana. He married Nellie Johnson on 2nd October 1938. After completing his second year at college he began working as a full-time evangelist. In 1946 he received a MA from the University of Michigan in speech and communication. he was then ordained as a minister and worked for 4 years as a filed instructor in evangelism at Emmanuel Missionary College. In 1947 he became the associate secretary Ministerial Association at the General Conference. Aged 33 he beacme the youngest to work in Adventist church leadership. After WW11, along with other charismatic Adventist speakers, he spearheaded a drive for public evangelism in major cities like Pittsburgh (1948). Washington (1951) and London (1952). Back in 1946 he had been encouraged to try television as means of reaching others with the Gospel,. He did create a 6 month experimental evangelistic effort but due to lack of financial support it was put on hold. !0 years later, in the Spring of 1956***It Is Writtenwas launched. Charles Rozell Swindoll is an evangelical Christian pastor, author, educator and radio preacher. In 1979 he founded Insight for Living a radio program which today is broadcast on more than 2,000 stations around the world in 15 languages. In July 1994 he became President of Dallas Theological College (DTC)- he is now Chancellor. In 1998 he founded Stonebriar Community Church (SCC) in Frisco, Texas. He was born with a stutter and credits his drama teacher, Dick Niema, for helping him to manage it. While at school he was part of the marching band and learned to play all the instruments in the woodwind section. He fulfilled his military obligation with the US Marine Corps and played in their marching band. In 1959 he attended Dallas Theological Seminary. In 1963 he graduated magna cum laude Charles was ordained in 1963. He has held 4 pastorate roles. He spent 2 years in Dallas. 2 years in Waltham Massachusetts (1965-7). 4 years at Irving, Texas (1967-71). 23 years at Fullerton, California (1971-94). He started his current senior pastorate in Frisco, Texas in 1998. The roots for Insight for Living goes back to the summer of 1977 when his sermons from First Evangelical Free church in Fullerton were broadcast on the radio. Cornelius, born Kornelis, was a Dutch- American Christian Philosopher and Reformed theologian who has been credited as being the originator of Modern presuppositional apologetics. Cornelius was born in Grootsgast, Netherlands. At the age of 10 his family moved to Highland, Indiana. USA. He graduated from Calvin college in 1922. He received a ThM from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1927. He received a PhD from Princeton University in 1927. For 2 years he taught at Princeton before moving, with the conservative group , to the new Westminster Theological Seminary (WTS) in1929 . He spent 43 years at WTS as professor of apologetics and systematic theology. On retiring in 1972 he continued to teach occasionally until 1979. He was also a minister in the Christian Reformed Church in North America and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church from the 1930s until his death in 1987. Cornelius is probably best known for the development of a fresh approach to the task of defending the Christian faith. His apologetics focused on the role of presuppositions, the point of contact between believers and unbelievers, and the antithesis between Christian and non-Christian view points ( He did not like the ‘label’ o f ’ presuppositional’ but accepted it as a matter of convention.) He also argued that the Trinity is of indispensable and insuperable value to a Christian philosophy. Matthew Henry was a nonconformist minister and author. He was born in Wales but spent most of his life in England. He founded in Presbyterian Chapel in Trinity Street, Chester. He is best remembered for his 6 volume biblical commentary Exposition of the Old and New Testaments. Matthew was born on the Broad Oak family estate which bordered Flintshire and Shropshire. He was baptized the next day by the parish rector. As a young child he was frequently ill with fevers. His father provided much of Henry’s early education and by the age of 9 he was able to write Latin and read part of the Greek New Testament. In 1668 he was tutored in grammar by William Turner. Aged 18 he was sent to a school in Islington, London to be tutored by Thomas Doolittle. He then transfered to Grey’s Inn to study Law. He also studied French and Literature. He then gave up his law studies for theology. His friend George Illidge invited him to give his first sermon at Nantwich. In 1686 he was invited to move to Chester. England to establish a congregation. Reluctant at first he accepted and was ordained on 9th May 1687. He continued to live in Chester until 1712. He married twice, Katherine Hardware and Mary Warburton. Matthew spent significant amounts of time studying and writing his sermons and lectures in advance. After he had established himself in Chester he began to travel almost weekly to speak in nearby cities. His impassioned expository speaking style was well received by his listeners and contributed to his growing popularity but his speaking engagements began to impact on his health. He was frequently ill with fevers. In 1698 he travelled to speak in London, for the first time since moving to Chester. He stopping at various places to speak on the way down. The congregation in Chester grew and in 1699 he oversaw the construction of a new building- the Presbyterian Chapel in Trinity Street. In 1704 he travelled to London again. In August he fainted while he was speaking. It took 3 weeks for him to recover. 18th May 1712 he and his family moved to Mare Street, Hackney. He kept busy by giving catechetical lectures in London and his Bible commentary was approaching the publication stage. 1713 his health continued to decline - he had frequent attacks of nephritis (kidney problems) but he continued to maintain his frequent speaking engagements and work on his commentary. 21st June, on his way to Nantwich, he was thrown off his horse. He denied injury to his companions and insisted on continuing his journey. His companions noted he lacked energy and they stopped at the Queen’s Aid House. The next day,22nd June, he lost consciousness and died. Matthew’s legacy is his Bible commentaries. Walter was a prominent Baptist theologian and educator on the faculty of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) at Fort Worth, Texas from 1910 to 1949. Walter was born at Rowell, Arkansas on 19th January 1877. Aged 15 his family moved to the West Texas community of Tebo (now Tye). Education 1896-8 Simmons College (now Hardin-Simmons Uni.) 1908 Baylor University M.A. 1908 Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary degree 1910 Rochester Theological Seminary B.D. 1916 Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS) Th.D 1931 SBTS Ph.D. He was baptized by W.M. Reynolds and received into the fellowship of Harmony Baptist Church (HBC) at Caps, Texas. He was ordained by HBC in 1899 where he was serving as pastor. Johnny M. Hunt is an evangelical Christian pastor, author and former President of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). He was formerly the senior pastor of First Baptist Church Woodstock, Georgia. Johnny was born in Lumberton , North Carolina. He is a member of the Lumbee Native American Indian tribe based in North Carolina. His father left the family when he was just 7. Johnny became an alcoholic and gambler at a young age -dropping out of school and ‘managing’ a pool room. In his book Out of the Poolroom he tells how he had a radical conversion to Christianity. He was mentored by several men from his home church in Wilmington, North Carolina and came to the realization that God had called him to the ministry. He earned degrees at Gardner- Webb College (B.A)1979 and the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MD) 1981. He ministered at a number of churches, including his home church of Longleaf Baptist Church in Wilmington. He became senior minister at First Baptist Church (FBC) in Woodstock Georgia (1986 -December 2019). FBC Woodstock when he joined had about 1,000 members , It grew to more than 19,000 members during his 33 years of ministry and is now one of the largest churches in the USA. Peter was born on 20th October 1902 in Minnsdosa, Manitoba, Canada. His family moved to Vancouver. He was the youngest of 3 boys. His father left his mother so he had to drop out of school to help support the family. While still a teenager he moved to the USA. After high school he prepared to go to the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA). 23rd September 1923 he was converted at Reuben Torrey’s church under the evangelist Willie Nicholson. Instead of going to UCLA he went to the Bible Institute of Los Angeles (BIOLA). At BIOLA he discovered his gift of evangelism and committed himself to a full time Christian service. They kept mass evangelism alive nationwide using radio broadcasts and rallies in the 1930’s and 1940s. 1933 he founded Pinebrook Bible Conference for young people. David Paul Jeremiah is an American evangelical Christian author, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, a Southern Baptist megachurch in El Cajon, California. Jeremiah was born in Toledo, Ohio on 13th February 1941. His father, James T. Jeremiah was a baptist pastor and former president of Cedarville University. He earned BA from Cedarville University (1963) and an MA from Dallas Theological Seminary (1967). Cedarville awarded him a honorary D.D (1981). In 1969 he became senior pastor at Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne (1969-1981). In 1981 he moved to California where he succeeded Tim LaHaye as senior pastor at Shadow Mountain Community Church (1981-present day). In 1982 he founded Turning Point Ministries - a non profit organization which is solely supported by listeners and viewers. It focuses on multi-media Bible instruction. 50 years later, Orchard Road Centre pastor still going strong Marilyn Allene Hickey is an American Christian minster and televangelist who teaches Bible studies both nationally and internationally. Born on 1st July 1931 she is 90 next year. Marilyn, aged 11 was told she had an enlarged heart which grew worse until she had surgery. She became a born again Christian when teenager. She gained a BA in Collective Foreign Languages at the University of North Colorado. According to her daughter, Susan Bowling, her father was the first to fully commit to a life of ministry but said both were passionate about God. Marilyn met Wallace Hickey at an Assemblies of God Church, where he served as pastor. . They married on Boxing day -26thDecember 1954 and were married for over 50 years (1954-2012). Together they founded and pastored at Gospel Chapel in Denver (1956-2012) . The church grew from 25 and peaked at 4,000 and was renamed Orchard Road Christian Center and enlarged 4 times. Kenneth is an American televangelist and author associated with the charismatic movement. His organization, Kenneth Copeland Ministries, is based in Tarrant County, Texas. He was born in Lubbock, Texas. He was raised near a US Army Air Forces airfield which inspired him to become a pilot. Prior to becoming a minister he was a recording artist on the Imperial Records label. He had one Billboard Top 40 which reached number 17 on 20th April 1957. Kenneth became a born again Christian in November 1962. He has devoted the last 50+ years of his life to the Gospel and ministry work. In the fall of 1967 he enrolled in Oral Roberts University where he soon became pilot and chauffeur to Oral Roberts. He has been married 3 times. His present wife, Gloria, he married in 1963. Michael Amerhom Youssef is an Arab-American pastor and televangelist. He is the senior pastor of the Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, Georgia and the executive president of Leading the Way. Michael is fortunate to be alive. His mother, who was in poor health, was advised by the doctors to terminate the pregnancy. An abortion was scheduled. God intervened. Her pastor reassured her that God was involved in the pregnancy and not to be afraid. His parents accepted the pastor’s advice . Michael was born on 25th September 1948. Aged 16 he surrendered his life to the Lord. He was born in Egypt and lived in Lebanon and Australia before moving to the USA in 1977. While in Australia he studied at Moore Theological College in Sydney, was ordained a minister and met his wife Elizabeth. For 10 years he worked for the Haggai Institute, where he rose to the position of managing Director. He travelling around the world teaching courses in evangelism and church leadership to church leaders. The family settled in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984 and he became a U.S. citizen. In 1987 he founded the Church of Apostles in Atlanta. He started with a congregation of 40 adults; it now has a congregation of over 3,000. The vision of the church is Reaching the Lost and Equipping the Saints for the Work of the Ministry. In 1988 he founded Leading the Way The focus is on reaching Muslims in the Middle East. Kenneth was an American preacher. He is known for pioneering the Word of Faith movement. His most frequently quoted verse was For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be removed, and be though cast into sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he hath saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever ye desire, when you pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark ch 11 v 23/4 Kenneth was born with a deformed heart and what was believed to be an incurable blood disease. Aged 15 he became paralyzed and bedridden. In April 1933 he converted to Christianity. During the conversion he reportedly died 3 times over a period of 10 minutes, due to his deformed heart condition. He remained paralyzed. On 8th August 1934 he was raised from his deathbed having reading read Mark 11 v23/4 and was miraculously healed. Jesus appeared in visions to Kenneth 8 times over several years. They changed the course of his ministry. In 1936 he founded his first non-denominational church. He preached his first sermon in a small community Baptist church in Roland Texas. In 1937 he became an Assemblies of God (AOG) minister and pastored for the next 12 years in 5 AOG churches. He started to travel. On 25 th of November 1938 he married Oretha Rooker. They were married for 64 years and had 2 children -Kenneth Wayne(1939) and Patricia(1941). He began an itinerant ministry as a Bible teacher and evangelist in 1949 after a vision. Between 1947-58 he joined the Voice of Healing Revival in the USA. He was given full admission to the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International -established in 1951… On 23rd January 1963 he formed the Kenneth E. Hagin Evangelistic Association (now K.H.
